The City of Minneapolis is lifting its one-sided winter parking restrictions early due to melting snow.

The ban will be lifted Friday at 10 a.m.

Minneapolis put the winter parking rules in place Feb. 27 because the heavy snowfall narrowed the streets, making travel diffcult for cars and emergency vehicles. The restrictions limited parking to one side on certain residential streets. The restrictions were originally set to expire April 1.

On the streets of Minneapolis, word of the lifted ban fell on happy ears with residents eager to avoid parking tickets and the hassle of moving their vehicles.

St. Paul lifted its one-sided parking restrictions Thursday.
