MDH designates Princeton daycare first breastfeeding-friendly provider in MN

PRINCETON, Minn. (KMSP) - A daycare center in Princeton, Minnesota, received a designation from the Minnesota Department of Health for being the first breastfeeding-friendly child care provider in the state.
Kind Hearts Day Care was granted the designation after completing specific steps including adopting a written policy about breastfeeding and informing staff about best practices, according to a release.
The daycare center also requires staff to attend professional training, to provide a lactation room and to follow proper storage and handling guidelines for breast milk.
Across Minnesota in 2016, the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership provided training and follow-up assistance for nearly 250 child care providers, including sharing best practices for breastfeeding support.
More than 9,000 Minnesota children attended a child care that partners with SHIP.
