Man charged with murder for setting girlfriend on fire
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder for allegedly setting his girlfriend on fire after an argument at her apartment in northeast Minneapolis early Thursday morning.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to 36-year-old Vanessa Danielson's apartment on the 2900 block of Taylor Street at 2:45 a.m. Danielson, told police that her boyfriend, Wyndale Fayson, had come to her apartment. He grew angry and accused her of cheating on him. He told her he would kill her by setting the apartment on fire.
A neighbor heard a commotion around 3 a.m. and heard Danielson yelling, "He's gonna kill me me, he has a gun, he's gonna burn my TV down." The neighbor shouted up, asking if she was okay. When she said no, he called 911.
Fayson was gone by the time officers arrived.
Police were called back to the same apartment at approximately 6:41 a.m. on a report of a woman screaming. When they arrived, the upstairs apartment of the duplex was on fire.
Officers found Danielson lying on the street outside the residences. Her entire body had been severely burned.
While en route to the hospital, Danielson told paramedics that she woke up on fire in bed. She told a neighbor, who held her hand trying to calm her, that "Wyndale" was the one who set her on fire. Danielson later died from her injures at the hospital.
Officers located Fayson approximately three blocks from Danielson's apartment He was on his hands and knees. He was screaming from the severe burns on his body and saying he should not have gone back to the house.
Fayson is currently in the hospital. He has been charged with second degree intentional murder.
