I-35 reopens in southern Minnesota

After snow caused closures and delayed travelers, I-35 is now open between Owatonna, Minnesota and Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Parts of I-35 and other highways in southern Minnesota closed Sunday night as blizzard-like conditions made travel dangerous.

The snow and wind led to over 600 motorists being rescued and some had to spend the night in a shelter at the Owatonna Armory.

MnDOT is still working to clear the roads of some snow and ice and urges motorists to drive with caution and plan for much longer travel times.
