Holidazzle kicked off in Loring Park in Minneapolis Friday evening with a ceremonial opening and tree lighting.

This year marks the third straight year the event has been held in the park. The mild weather drew large crowds for the opener.

"We love being at Loring Park," said Leah Wong of the Minneapolis Downtown Council.  "We've heard from our visitors about how they love the green space and community feel that it has."

The event showcases popular local vendors such as Fulton Beer, Kramarczuk’s and Love Your Melon. Not only are there dazzling light displays, but people can enjoy free ice skating at WinterSkate, outdoor movies nights and visits to Santa.

"It's become a family tradition for us. it's our second year here to see Santa and enjoy the atmosphere," said Laurie Brix.

The winter fun runs Thursdays through Sundays until Saturday, December 23.
