'Hat not Hate' event at Mall of America takes on bullying

BLOOMINGTON, MN (FOX 9) - An event at the Mall of America Saturday urged participants to come together and knit, with an aim at preventing bullying.

The event marked World Knit in Public Day, bringing knitters of all levels together to learn basic crochet and knitting skills by making blue hats to fight against bullying.

The first 1,000 participants walked away with a free gift bag with yarn crafting supplies.
