FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (KMSP) - The Minnesota State Fair is getting one of the tallest Ferris wheels in North America. The Great Big Wheel will bring you 156 feet over the Great Minnesota Get-together.
The Great Big Wheel has 36 enclosed, six-person gondolas, and a half-million, programmable LED lights to put on an evening spectacle. The giant Ferris wheel was built in the Netherlands and requires 12 trailers to transport the 200-ton amusement.
The Great Big Wheel will be located on the southwest corner of Randall Avenue and Cooper Street, across from Family Fair at Baldwin Park and will operate 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily throughout the fair. Tickets are $5 per rider.
The 2017 Minnesota State Fair runs Aug. 24 through Labor Day, Sept. 4. Fox 9 will once again be broadcasting live from the State Fair. Come visit us, watch the show, and grab a reusable bag on Nelson Street, across from the Grandstand and next to the Giant Slide.
