Family, friends mourn mother of 5 killed in Burnsville crash

The innocent victim killed by a driver fleeing police Monday night has been identified as 39-year-old Aida Leticia Sevilla O’Campo, a mother of five from Burnsville, Minnesota.

In her most recent photo, O’Campo is where she loved to be: with her husband, Octavio, and their five children.

Matthew Vogel, 22, of Bloomington led police on a seven-mile chase from Apple Valley to County Road 5 and 131st Street – crashed into O’Campo – and left her picture perfect family shattered.

“You never picture something like this to somebody that is a good person,” Marcos Martinez, a longtime friend of O’Campo, told Fox 9.

Vogel had just come over a hill when he struck and killed O’Campo, who had just left home to go to her cleaning job at Menards just five minutes away. Vogel then took out a power pole, igniting his van, which ended the pursuit and his own life.

O’Campo’s friends and family are now trying to pick up the pieces of a life they never envisioned without her.

“She was just a beautiful person,” Martinez said. “That’s all that we have in our mind is taking care of her and do good by her family.”
