A 59-year-old Edina, Minnesota woman was killed Monday evening after the vehicle she was driving went over a ledge in Lutsen.

The crash occurred at 6:32 p.m. According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Dayna Anderson and a friend were looking at potential vacation cabins along Cascade Beach Road. Anderson was trying to release the emergency brake to exit a steep private driveway when the Toyota Camry rolled off the ledge, pinning her beneath it.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. Her friend was not injured.

The two women were staying in the area with other friends at a nearby cabin. Anderson had been a speech pathologist in the Edina school district for 25 years.

“This is a terribly tragic fluke accident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim and parties involved,” Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen said in a statement.
