What they're saying:
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spoke about the significance of the grand opening and how it will benefit the surrounding community.
"They've got everything you could possibly need right here, with the kind of food that northsiders are going to absolutely love," Mayor Frey said. "A grocery store is the kind of staple that every community needs. And if you have to walk or drive a mile to get to one, that's just not acceptable. We know that for generations, there have been food deserts on the north side in particular. This helps to provide the kind of oasis that the community needs, that the people need, and it'll keep people healthy for the long haul."
Colonial Market owner Daniel Hernandez said "As a proud Afro-Latino immigrant who came to the country at the age of 16, with dreams and a love for my culture, it means everything to be able to open a space that serves the community that I now call home."
