Charges: Stranger rapes 10-year-old girl in Minneapolis apartment hallway

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Police used surveillance video to identify the stranger who raped a 10-year-old girl after following her onto an elevator in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis on Sunday. 

Witnesses said they heard a young girl screaming and crying from the third floor hallway of a Riverside Plaza tower at 1601 S. Fourth St. The victim told police a man followed her onto the elevator and onto the third floor, where he raped her.

Police located and arrested the Ahmed Abdi, 34, of Minneapolis based on surveillance video that showed Abdi and the victim entering the elevator together.

Abdi is being charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child under 13.
