Boy reports he was abducted in Anoka, police investigating

Anoka police are investigating a reported abduction after a 10-year-old boy claimed he was grabbed and placed into a cargo van on Monday.

The family reported the boy was near the 600 block of Brisbin Street when someone grabbed him in a bear hug and put him in a black or dark colored cargo van. No suspect description was given. The boy said he called his mom on his cell phone after he had been abducted, then escaped after pushing open a near door in the Chipotle parking lot at Riverdale Crossings Shopping Center in Coon Rapids.

He had been home from school and said he left his house without permission.

“We are working on validating portions of the information provided by the child and his family,” Anoka County Cdr. Paul Sommer said in a news release.
