4 killed, 3 in critical condition in deadly weekend on Minnesota roadways

Minnesota State Patrol is investigating several deadly crashes in what is turning out to be a busy weekend on the state’s roads.

Stephen Rebuse, 30, of Bloomington, Minn., has died after crashing into a light pole off of County Road E2 and walking onto Interstate 35W in Arden Hills early Sunday morning. He was struck by on oncoming vehicle heading south on the interstate. It is unknown if alcohol was involved. No others were injured in the crash.

SATURDAY

A 19-year-old woman has died after a rollover crash on I-35 in Pine County early Saturday afternoon. She was a passenger in the car.

According to State Patrol, the 19-year-old driver was on I-35 near Mission Creek Township when he bumped into the center median and overcorrected, causing the car rolling multiple times before landing upright. He was brought to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Salena Chhum, 19, of Inver Grove Heights, was brought to the hospital where she later died.

A 77-year-old woman died after driving the wrong way down Highway 52 in Hampton, Minnesota around noon on Saturday.

According to State Patrol, Fern Marty of Woodbury was driving a Suburu north in the southbound lanes. Two people in a Ford Escape noticed the car and tried to avoid it.

The two cars collided, both passenger sides hitting each other. The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, and the passenger was uninjured.

Highway 52 was closed for multiple hours, but reopened just before 4 p.m.

A woman died and three others are injured after two motorcycles collided in East Bethel, Minnesota on Saturday.

Both motorcycles were headed north when they collided at the intersection of Highway 65 and 184 Avenue NE.

The motorcyclists were not wearing helmets.

After the motorcycles collided, witness James Schaak pulled to the side of the road to help. A witness told Fox 9 that a female motorcyclist died in Schaak's arms.

Two helicopters were requested for medical airlift. A man and a woman were each flown to a nearby hospital in critical condition, and another man was transported by ambulance with serious injuries.
