3 men busted for sewer treasure hunt

Three men went searching for treasures in the sewer system in Brooklyn and came up empty handed, according to police.

The men were arrested and face criminal trespassing charges for their hours-long scavenger hunt.

The men were hoping to find discarded valuables.

Two of them emerged from a manhole in Brooklyn's East Flatbush early Thursday morning.

The third suspect, a part-time employee with the city Department of Environmental Protection, was accused of uncovering the manhole to let the two inside.

Marquise Evans told authorities he let David Hannibal and Damion Nieves, both of Brooklyn, into the hot and putrid sewer system to search for discarded merchandise like jewelry and other valuables.
