3 49ers fans charged with assault of Vikings fan

The three California men who attacked a Minnesota Vikings fan after last week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers are being charged with felony assault.

The fight occurred outside Levi’s Stadium on Monday, Sept. 14 shortly after the game let out. A video posted to Facebook and Youtube showed a Vikings fan wearing a No. 26 Antoine Winfield jersey on the ground getting kicked and punched by two 49ers fans.

From the video, Santa Clara police were able to identify Felix Chavira, 32, Juan Arias, 33, Eric Martinez, 30, and a 17-year-old female. The three men are being charged with assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Arias faces an additional battery charge for attacking an 18-year-old security guard security guard that stepped in to break up the fight.

Both the 35-year-old victim and the security officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.
