Welcome to June

It’s hard to believe but June is here, and if June lives up to its reputation, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.  Summer doesn’t officially start until June 20th this year, but meteorologically speaking, the months of June, July and August are considered summer!

SUMMER AND DAYLIGHT

This is the month when we peak on the amount of daylight hours. The longest day, when it comes to daylight, is June 21st, when the Twin Cities will see about 15 hours and 37 minutes of sunlight.

The official start to summer comes on June 20th at 5:34 in the morning.

WEATHER IN JUNE

June is our stormiest month of the year, especially when it comes to tornadoes. If a tornado is going to touch down, its most likely will happen during the month of June.

June is also a wet month as well, but not the wettest, that title goes to July. However, we can expect to see an average of 4.25” inches before the month is done.
