Twin Cities hits a record 70 degrees, average is 35
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The Twin Cities Metro hit a record high of 70 degrees near 2 p.m. on Tuesday, eclipsing the previous record of 69 degrees set back in 2000. A warm southwesterly wind combined with early afternoon sunshine to push temperatures 30-40 degrees above average across the State. For comparison; the Twin Cities average high for this point of March is 37 degrees.
Tuesday’s high temperature of 70 degrees is our average high in mid-May. Temperatures will cool overnight and into Wednesday as a weak cold front slides in from the west, but it will still peak in the mid to upper 40s which is still 5-15 degrees above average.
