Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department Monday night, flouting the county’s 7 p.m. curfew to demand justice after the police shooting death of a 20-year-old Sunday.

The Brooklyn Center police officer who fatally shot Daunte Wright has resigned, Law Enforcement Labor Services announced Tuesday. Officer Kim Potter has resigned from her position, effective immediately, and submitted her letter to city staff this morning.

A man died Sunday after he was shot by police and then shortly after involved in a vehicle crash in Brooklyn Center, the police department reports. Law enforcement did not confirm the victim's identity Sunday, but protesters were calling for justice in the death of a man named Daunte Wright during demonstrations.
