White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt held a media briefing on Wednesday to offer the latest on daily news, including ongoing ceasefire talks with Iran, Tax Day 2026 filing stats and more.

White House Press Secretary blames news of a potential ceasefire extension with Iran on “bad reporting,” while saying the Trump administration remains “very much engaged” in current negotiations for an end with the current conflict with Iran – even considering additional sanctions without a more permanent deal in place.

The White House offers official Tax Day 2026 stats, saying more than 53 million filers have submitted documents to the IRS, with nearly 45 million claiming a tax cut at an average of around $800 for each – in part calling it a “great day for the American people.”

As Americans ready their tax preparations on April 15, also known as Tax Day each year, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent described what the White House is calling a “fantastic” tax season for the IRS, while touting “record refunds” in the process.

On the eve of tax deadlines across the U.S., White House officials touted the benefits of “Trump tax cuts” saying that “the Trump administration has offered more, and larger refunds than in any year of the history of our country.”
