WE ARE HIS LEGACY: Timberwolves reflect on Flip Saunders, one year later

Flip Saunders

One day ahead of their season opener, the Timberwolves reflect on the lasting impact of Flip Saunders.

FLIP’S IMPACT

“For everybody in here, he meant a lot. He put this team together, we are his legacy, we have to keep improving and make him proud.” Ricky Rubio said.

“He got this young court together and as we start winning more games, we’ll definitely remember that if it wasn’t for him we all couldn’t be together playing with each other.” Shabazz Muhammad said.

“It’s hard… We all keep him in our hearts, I thank him for everything, and he’s the one who drafted me. We’ll never forget him.” Zach LaVine said.

Flip’s vision for team, is all in the hands of Tom Thibodeau. The two had been friends for years, but Thibodeau never thought he would end up as the head coach.

“We all miss him. He was one of a kind. “Thibodeau said.

“His vision for the team, he had spoken to me about what he was trying to do, so I have a pretty good understanding of it – I never thought I would end up here, but getting here and seeing the players and their character, you can tell he put a premium on them as well.”

“All of the things that he thought a lot about he put into play and hopefully we can carry it out.”

“His memory is alive and well with all of us.”

The Timberwolves open up their season tomorrow in Memphis.
