US Bank Stadium sold out for 2016 Vikings season

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - All 2016 Minnesota Vikings home games for the inaugural season at U.S. Bank Stadium are sold out, the team announced Thursday.

Of the stadium’s final 2016 capacity of 66,655, more than 60,400 seats are committed for the entire season with the remaining single-game seats also sold out. As a result of the sellout, the Vikings have open the wait list for tickets and suites.

“This is a testament to the passion of our fans and tremendous support of the Vikings,” said Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf. “The excitement for this team combined with the overwhelming response to U.S. Bank Stadium is incredible. We cannot wait to create the best home field advantage in the NFL.”

Vikings fans can check Ticketmaster or call the Vikings ticket office at 612-33-VIKES throughout the season to check for visiting team ticket returns.

The first Vikings game action at U.S. Bank Stadium is set for Sunday, Aug. 28 – a preseason game against the San Diego Chargers. Watch Vikings Gameday Live on Fox 9 from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Don't have tickets? You can still have fun. This week, the Vikings announced the Delta Vikings Village -- a new bar area for people with and without tickets to the game, along with a family friendly area outside U.S. Bank Stadium. The Vikings Village will feature “The Vikings Longhouse” which is expected to hold 800 people.

The Longhouse will open two-and-a-half hours before home games and stay open until approximately two hours after games. Outside of the Longhouse there will be a stage for live music, a beer garden and interactive displays near the U.S. Bank Stadium light rail station.

The Commons area will host family friendly game day activities in an alcohol free area between Fourth and Fifth Streets and Portland and Park Avenues.
