Twins legend Rod Carew honored at Target Field Donor Day

A Twins legend is being honored for his accomplishments off the field.

Friday was Donor Day at Target Field.

It was led by Rod Carew, his wife Rhonda and the family of Konrad Reuland.

Back in December, Carew received a heart and kidney from the former NFL player, who died at the age of 29 from a brain aneurysm.

Since then, the Carews and Reulands are working together through the Heart of 29 Foundation to encourage more people to become donors.

"It's so comforting to know that part of him is still up here and that he's doing what he did in life, he loved to help people,” said Mary Reuland, Konrad’s mother. “He was always mentoring young kids."

The Reuland family also threw out the first pitch to Carew at the game.
