Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has been named the NFC defensive player of the week for his performance against the Carolina Panthers. Griffen had 4 tackles, 3 sacks, and 9 hurries of Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the Vikings victory.

Before Sunday’s game, Griffen was listed as questionable to return with an illness.

The Vikings have had a player of the week in each week in 2016. Last week, Stefon Diggs was named the NFC offensive player of the week in the victory against the Packers and in the first week of the season, Eric Kendricks was named NFC defensive player of the week for his performance against the Titans.

Griffen is the 10th player of the week award winner in the past three seasons under Mike Zimmer.

Griffen also won the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award last season for his performance against the Green Bay Packers.
