Andre Smith 'excited to join the great Vikings organization'

The Minnesota Vikings have added another big piece to their re-tooled offensive line. Free agent tackle Andre Smith confirmed he’s signing a one-year deal with the Vikings after visiting Minneapolis on Sunday and Monday.

Smith posted on Twitter: “Minneapolis here I come…Excited to join the great Vikings organization today on a 1-yr deal!!#SKOLVikings!!”

Andre Smith was drafted No. 6 overall in 2009 by the Cincinnati Bengals out of Alabama. He played all 7 of his previous pro seasons in Cincinnati. Smith also visited the Arizona Cardinals.

“It’s good to be the best offensive line in football, block for the best running back in football,” Smith told Fox 9 during his Minneapolis visit. “Keeping Teddy clean is most definitely the most important thing.”
