4 Lynx poised for Olympics

The Lynx return in 2016 eyeing a second straight WNBA title, but four Minnesota members will also go for a "world-wide" repeat of sorts.

It's on to the Olympics in August for Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen, Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles. This trip is a second or third appearance for each player, but an experience that's always new.

“Being the youngest one on the team in 2012, and now I come in as a middle aged player,” Lynx guard Maya Moore said. “It will be great to see the younger players come in for the first time have their opportunity, and then make it as great as possible for the vets who are on their way out."

The Lynx’s prowess speaks volumes on the international stage. Four of the five Minnesota starters are on Team USA and this trip to Brazil only adds to their recent success.

"This is super special to have all of these Lynx players as part of the national team,” Moore said. “I feel so privileged to have them with me not only this summer in Rio but also when we come back to resume our season."

There's still a ways to go until the end of the season and the Olympics, but the 2016 goal is gold on all fronts.

"Now we get to defend both titles,” Lynx center Sylvia Fowles said. “It's going to be hard, but at the same time, fun!”
