Woman dies in hit-and-run crash in Minneapolis, driver believed to be drunk

A woman died in a hit-and-run crash in Minneapolis Friday night, according to Minneapolis police. Police believe alcohol was a factor.

55-year-old Lisa Esping was driving east on 29th Avenue North when the suspect hit her, causing her to hit a tree.

The suspect's car also hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle.

Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.

The suspect, 28-year-old Regis Welsh, left the scene on foot before police arrived, but later came back and officers arrested him. The man received treatment at Hennepin County Medical Center and police executed a search warrant to complete a blood test.
