Watch for motorcyclists during Fall Flood Run on Saturday

Drivers are reminded to use extra caution along the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers this Saturday as nearly 30,000 motorcyclists head to the Fall Flood Run between the Twin Cities and Winona, Minnesota.

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, 43 motorcyclists have died so far this year, compared to 61 deaths in 2015. While the numbers are down, the department still urges drivers to use caution.

Law enforcement agencies in southeast Minnesota will be patrolling the event, and Minnesota State Patrol will have troopers patrolling the area.

Additionally, the department reminds drivers to look twice before turning onto a road or changing lanes. Motorcyclists should wear protective gear including “a DOT-approved helmet and brightly colored protective gear for visibility and protection.
