Volunteers collect record amount of trash from Minnehaha Creek
MINNETONKA, Minn. (KMSP) - Thousands of volunteers collected a record high amount of trash for the 10th annual Minnehaha Creek.
According to organizers, volunteers removed five tons of trash from along the creek. The goal was four tons.
But that wasn't the only record broken, 2,000 people came out to volunteer, which was an all-time high for the event.
"We hope today inspires people to do more after they go home from this event, that they go talk about what they can do in their own lives to keep the creek and lakes clean," said Telly Mamayek with the Minnehaha Water Creek Watershed District.
