Victim in St. Paul, Minn. homicide identified
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - The man who was killed in a late-night shooting on Rice Street in St. Paul, Minnesota Wednesday night has been identified.
Around 11 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired on the 800 block of Rice Street. When they arrived, they found a man injured with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he later died.
The victim has been identified as Eddie Cortez Smith, 40, of St. Paul. His death has been ruled a homicide.
A suspect was detained at the scene and later arrested for murder.
Officers also found two handguns at the scene.
The shooting remains under investigation.
