Teen attempting to pass car on highway hits, kills driver

DODGE COUNTY, Minn. (KMSP) - A teen driver attempting to pass another vehicle on a southeastern Minnesota highway hit an oncoming car head-on, killing the other motorist, according to the state patrol.
The accident happened north of Hayfield at 5:37 a.m. Tuesday.
The teen driving a pickup truck was heading northbound on Highway 56 and attempted to pass another vehicle, but collided with another car head-on. The teen has been identified as Timothy Tlougan, 19, of Hayfield. He was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Severt Fiksen, 66, of Dodge Center, has been identified as the other driver and was pronounced dead on scene.
Highway 56 was closed for four hours for clean-up and reconstruction of the crash.
