St. Paul PD investigating Alexandria officer-involved shooting

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has asked the St. Paul Police Department to conduct an independent investigation of the fatal officer-involved shooting that took place in Alexandria, Minn. Tuesday.

BCA agents were conducting an undercover operation in Alexandria, Minn. involving the solicitation of minor in the 300 block of 4th Ave. E when they encountered 31-year-old Adam Jo Klimek in one of the residences around 2:15 p.m. 

When agents told him he was under arrested, Klimek pulled out a knife and charged at them. Two agents, identified as Beth Eilers and Dusty Vanderhagen, fired their weapons at him.

Klimek was pronounced dead at the scene. The Anoka County Medical Examiner will release an exact cause of death.

Investigators from the St. Paul Police Department have traveled to Alexandria to interview witnesses, review evidence and determine exactly what led to the shooting.

Upon completion of the investigation, St. Paul police will turn their findings over to the Douglas County attorney’s office.
