Single-game Vikings tickets sell out quickly

After 12 years in the legislature and nearly four years of planning and construction the buildup to U.S. Bank Stadium has made Vikings tickets a hot commodity.

On Wednesday, individual game tickets went on sale and, according to social media chatter, sold out quickly.

"Think about it, if there's a thousand people trying at 10 a.m. to get 4 tickets each, those are going to sell out in seconds,” said Brian Obert, Ticket King co-owner.

The quick sellout sent buyers to the re-sale market. Both Seat Geek and locally Ticket King reported an increase in traffic after the sellout.

"They gave their best shot at trying to get tickets and now it's to the secondary markets," said Obert.

Seat Geek reports the average ticket price for the home opener against the Green Bay Packers at $407.

Online Fox 9 found individual seats for up to as high as $9,300, while other games are averaging around $200.

But if we learned anything from other Minnesota stadiums, the excitement of the inaugural season may eventually wear off along with the high premiums.

"But if the team starts playing well, it could stay strong for a long time," said Obert.
