Sewer backup closes Walker Art Center, no art damaged

The Walker Art Center will be through Friday due to a storm sewer backup occurred overnight on Tuesday in the lower level of one of the buildings.

The backup was caused by a combination of storm water and the construction project on Lyndale and Hennepin Avenues. The Walker Art Center says none of its art collections were damaged by the sewer backup.

The museum and galleries closed Wednesday and will remain closed through Friday while museum and City of Minneapolis staff work to clean up the damage.
