Ron Johnson re-elected to U.S. Senate for Wisconsin

Republican incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson has been re-elected in Wisconsin.

The race between Johnson and Democrat Russ Feingold was too close to call at the beginning of Tuesday evening, but by the end of the night Johnson won.

According to the latest poll in the race, Feingold was leading Johnson with one point. Most of the attention Tuesday night went toward the heavily democratic Milwaukee and the republican counties including Waukesha, Osaukee and Washington, along with Madison, Green Bay and the Fox River Valley.

But, both candidates also made a point to stop in Hudson the week before the election, where voters were happy to do their part.

Back in 2010, Johnson unseated Feingold, ending his 18 year run in the senate. Johnson did well in western Wisconsin in 2010, with Feingold only winning Eau Claire County. Feingold said he hoped the electorate would be more like 2012 when democrat Tammy Baldwin was voted into office.
