Police: Security guard fatally shoots suspect in Eagan

EAGAN, Minn. (KMSP) - Eagan Police say a security guard shot and killed a man who tried to rob him early Monday morning.

Davon Wiley, 25, of Minneapolis, died of a gunshot wound at the scene, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

Authorities responded to a call on the 900 block of Aldrin Drive just after midnight. The security guard said he had just shot a man who had attempted to attack him.

Police said Wiley was wearing a mask at the time of the assault.

The preliminary investigation showed the security guard was working when Wiley assaulted him. During the struggle, Wiley was shot and killed by the guard, and the guard suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

Police are still investigating the incident and do not believe there is an additional danger to the public.
