Police responding to disturbance in south Minneapolis

Minneapolis Police have set up a perimeter around a home in south Minneapolis after receiving reports that a fire was started by an emotionally disturbed man.

The Minneapolis Fire Department responded to the home on the 2800 block of Garfield Ave South. Minneapolis Police say smoke was coming out a window of the home, but no flames were visible. The fire department put out the fire.

Officials say the man might be armed with a machete and a gun. Police say it might be a pellet gun.

Fire crews evacuated the area and started denying entry, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department Twitter.
