Police investigating deadly shooting in Brooklyn Center, Minn.

One person is confirmed dead after a shooting in Brooklyn Center on Tuesday around 2:35 p.m., police said.

According to Brooklyn Center Police, officers were called to the area of 66th Avenue North and Camden Avenue North on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, an adult male victim with a gunshot wound was located.

"Officers immediately attempted life saving measures which included CPR," police said. "Ultimately the victim was pronounced dead at the scene."

After developing suspect information with witnesses, officers were able to locate the suspect at a nearby location. He or she was arrested without incident.

The police department said detectives and officers are continuing to interview witnesses and collect evidence on scene. The victim and suspect have not yet been publicly identified.

"This is not believed to be a random incident and the Brooklyn Center Police Department has no reason to believe that there is any continuing danger to the public," police said.

The Brooklyn Center Police Department was assisted by several other agencies including Hennepin County Deputies, Hennepin County Crime Lab, the Hennepin County Violent Offender Task Force, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Brooklyn Park Police Department and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
