NORTHFIELD, Minn. (KMSP) - Northfield Police Department officials say they aren't ruling out self-defense in a shooting that left one woman dead at a Northfield home over the weekend.
Police say the investigation could take more than month to complete. The victim and the possible suspect were not related, but were longtime acquaintances with a landlord-tenant relationship.
Sunday morning, officers responded to a report of a home intruder shooting in the 1200 block of Jefferson Road. When police arrived, they found 61-year-old Lilly Marie Kirckof dead at the scene.
Despite initial reports, police do not believe the shooting was related to a home intruder.
