Edward Saad, 56, has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries in the E. Lake Street area, including a break-in at a mosque.

Minneapolis police arrested a suspect Tuesday in connection with numerous burglaries in the area, including a break-in at local mosque.

Edward zahi Moses Saad, 56, allegedly broke into the Umatul Islam Center at 3015 2nd Ave. S and stole equipment and files, causing more than $5,000 worth of damage, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said in a statement last week.

Minneapolis police believe Saad is also responsible for at least nine other burglaries over the past 10 days along E. Lake Street on 2nd, 3rd and 4th Avenues.
