Minneapolis PD squad rear-ended during 35W traffic stop, 4 injured

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Four people, including a Minneapolis police officer, are recovering after an accident involving a squad car. The officer’s patrol car was rear-ended during a traffic stop just after 2 a.m. on southbound Interstate 35W at 38th Street.

The car that hit the squad ended up in the middle of the 35W, where it was hit by another car. Police said the driver of the car that hit the squad is in custody. The Minnesota State Patrol and Minneapolis police are investigating whether the driver was impaired in any way.

The injuries from the crash are all believed to be minor, but all 4 were taken to the hospital.
