Minn. authorities address clown rumors, latest social media craze

The creepy clown scare has taken over social media and authorities in Minnesota are warning people of false reports.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office posted this message on their Facebook,

The Shakopee Police Department confirmed their incident was a joke by two Shakopee students making a Snapchat video,

And… the city of Farmington has been in contact with “Bobo the Friendly Clown,”

Saint Paul Public Schools posted this on their Facebook,

Hopkins Police arrested someone who was making threats online, 

Albert Lea Police warned not to feed into the frenzy,

Information has been passed along to the Albert Lea Police Department about vague clown-related Facebook threats and photos circulating purportedly of clown sightings in Albert Lea. The ALPD has determined that there are no credible clown-related threats in Albert Lea. In fact, at least one of the photos circulating has been determined to be more than a year old and to have originated overseas. Please do not feed into the clown frenzy.
