Kids found malnourished in house littered with dog poop and garbage

A Princeton, Minn. man is in jail and two kids are in the hospital after their mother returned home to find her children malnourished, dehydrated and living in filth. A local hospital called the Sherburne County sheriff's office Friday afternoon in reference to the welfare of the two children.

The investigation revealed the mother had been out of the state for the past two months and returned home to find her children "weak and thin." The children were allegedly in the care of their biological father, identified as 32-year-old Michael Gunderson.

Deputies searched the home on 123rd Street NW in Baldwin Township and found nearly one pound of marijuana and other drug-related evidence. Investigators said the home was extremely filthy and littered with garbage and dog feces.

Gunderson is being held at the Sherburne County jail for possible charges of child endangerment, child neglect and three separate drug charges. Both children remain hospitalized.
