Holiday Train roars through the metro

It’s not the Polar Express, but this may be just as fun.

The Canadian-Pacific Holiday Train is rolling through the metro this weekend, traveling from Cottage Grove and Minneapolis on Saturday evening.

The train travels from Canada through the majority of North America every December, spreading holiday cheer and collecting food donations for local food banks.

It’s been chugging along since 1999, and has raised more than $13 million, and four million pounds of food for communities along its route.

Each stop lasts roughly 30 minutes, revealing a live band playing traditional and modern holiday music.

On Sunday, it will puff its way through New Hope, Golden Valley and St. Louis Park.
