Green Bay, Wis. hunter bags eight-point doe with antlers
ABRAMS, Wis. (KMSP) - It’s a tale he’ll be telling for quite some time: a Green Bay, Wisconsin hunter thought he’d bagged an eight-point buck, only to find out it was actually a doe – with antlers.
Wayne Douville was hunting on his friend’s land outside Green Bay when he saw what he thought was an eight-point buck. He believed it was a buck he had seen two years prior, so he took a shot.
“When we hung him up to dress him, we found out that he wasn’t a buck,” Douville told Fox 11 WLUK-TV in Green Bay.
The eight-point doe weighed 180 pounds.
There is approximately a one in 100,000 chance of finding a doe like the one Douville shot, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Officials say the doe likely had a higher level of testosterone than a normal female would have.
Douville told Fox 11 he’s going to have a full-body mount done on the doe, and hopes his wife will let him put it in the living room.
