Gold'n Plump Company recalls 55,608 pounds of chicken
COLD SPRING, Minn. (KMSP) - Gold'n Plump Company, which owns the Just BARE and Gold'n Plump brands, has recalled about 55,608 pounds of chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported Saturday.
The problem was discovered when the Cold Spring, Minn.-based company notified FSIS that sand and black soil were found in some of their products. The source of the contamination is currently under investigation by the establishment and law enforcement.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consumers.
The only product sold in grocery stores that is involved in the recall is the Just BARE Whole Chicken, sold in four-pound poly-bags with an expiration date of June 26, 2016. No other Just BARE whole chicken, tray pack or deli products are affected.
All the other products being recalled are bulk and custom items sold through foodservice and institutional outlets.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
