A former Minnesota Vikings player will be on the sidelines this year as head coach of Hill-Murray School’s varsity football team.

Hill-Murray School officials announced Pete Bercich, a former linebacker and special teams player for the Vikings, will be leading the Pioneers as head coach and Director of Development at the prep school in Maplewood.

Bercich started at Notre Dame University and was drafted in the 7th round of the 1994 NFL draft by Minnesota, where he played seven seasons. After retiring, he remained a member of the Vikings coaching staff for five seasons before becoming a sports broadcaster.

Bercich will attend an official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hill-Murray Football Stadium on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The stadium will be completed in time for the season.
