An early morning fire broke out next to a popular cabin country resort in Crosslake, Minn.

Sgt. DJ Downie of the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office says at about 5 a.m., a fire broke out at Manhattan Beach Villas, which is a privately-owned condominium complex. He says about eight to ten units in the building are a total loss, only two units survived the fire.

He said there were some people inside when the blaze started, but everyone got out safely.  No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Villas are next door to the Manhattan Beach Lodge, a popular hotel and event venue. Theresa Halverson, a manager at the lodge, says Manhattan Beach Lodge was not damaged, but visitors were evacuated for a short time. A regularly scheduled brunch was held later that morning without issue.

“We’re very, very fortunate," said Halverson.
