After a slow start due to delayed winter weather, the ice castles in Eden Prairie, Minn. will be ready to open on Saturday, Jan. 23.

The owners had originally hoped to open on Jan. 4, but a mild December slowed down plans. However, with the extreme cold temperatures setting in this weekend, crews have been able to make up for lost time.

“We’ve gotten a lot more height. A lot of the arch ways are coming together. We are finishing them up today. In another couple days we are going to be able to walk over them and our maze is getting close to complete, at least roof wise. And we are way further ahead then we were expecting to be at this time,” Manager Nate Bartlet said.

This is the company’s third year bringing the event to Minnesota. They have similar works of in New Hampshire, Utah and Canada.

The ice castles are located in Eden Prairie’s Miller Park and will be open through March 5.
