Lego fans gathered at the Brickmania Toyworks Lego Fan Expo to see the best in LEGO building.

The expo featured displays from both LEGO clubs and independent builders at their warehouse in Northeast Minneapolis.

Brickmania designs custom building kits using authentic LEGO parts. They repurpose the parts to create things that LEGO doesn’t make, such as kits to teach children about history using military vehicles.

They also create displays of historic locations in Minnesota. They showed off models of First Ave., a Grain Belt brewery, Nye’s Polonaise Room and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

“First Avenue is a landmark, an iconic landmark in Minneapolis,” said Matt Leotta with Brickmania. “So being able to render that in LEGO is a lot of fun.”

The LEGO expo is open on Saturday and Sunday until Jan. 14.
