Black bear put down after attacking worker in northern Minnesota

Authorities had to put down a black bear in northern Minnesota Tuesday after an unprovoked attack on a construction worker.

At 10:41 a.m., the Lake County sheriff's office received a 911 call that a female black bear had attacked some workers doing construction at a house on McDougal Lake in Isabella, off Highway 1. The 200-pound bear reportedly attacked one of the workers and when another worker tried to help, they were bitten on the arm.

First responders transported the injured worker to the Ely Hospital. There is no word yet on their condition.

The bear fled after the attack. Deputies and conservation officers were able to track the bear and put it down shortly after 12 p.m.
